What do you think about forums?

hi guys! my name is katie! im nineteen years old and a sophomore in college majoring in anthropology. im writing a paper about the culture of online anime forums for a field research methods in cultural anthropology class im taking. over the next few months i will be posting questions and hopefully talking to some of you about your experience on this forum. i hope you will participate but if not thats okay too .

1) How did you get started using online forums?
2) How long have you been on this forum?

4) What is it about the forums that keeps you here?

1) I used this site for watching my Bleach, and one day there was an update about there being forums here. Not knowing what forums were, I joined. I was lost. But after 3 months I figured it out and I posted up a storm, became very popular and became a moderator, then global moderator.

4) The fact that this was my first forum and I feel a big emotional pull to this place. And I upload the Bleach episodes for it people depend on me for their Bleach!!!

I actually used to only read forum topics for years. Then one time I joined a Pokemon forum so I can trade. Lol, I know that's a lame reason. Then I moved on to anime forums after I started watching anime again last year.

4) What is it about the forums that keeps you here?
The fact that it is about discussing anime, particularly bleach. Also, the people.

1. The site I used to watch bleach on stopped uploading so I looked for another one, one night well waiting or the upload I cheaked out the forum to see what people were talking about. I then wanted to post a theory and I sorta got sucked in.

I got used to using forums when I joined Flamezero... It was the first forum I was on and I was used to net talk, but since my first forum was one that expected good literacy, I stopped using "u" and all this and that.

Hmmm... Mostly due to the attachment, of the old members that were once here... God I miss those old times

Oh that was actually the reason some of them aren't here anymore, except Dood, I miss that guy, he went to get a new life in Guam, but now I don't know what he's doing.

I started on music sites to promo my art as at the time I was doing cd covers and band promo material as well as tattoo design. Now that I'f fairly solid in my profession I hit mostly my 4 favorite anime sites just for fun. 
2) How long have you been on this forum?
I think it's listed in my Profile. A while I guess... feels like longer than I probably have bee. But I think thats because I feel comfortable here. Not all anime forums are that welcoming to people my age.
3) Are you a member of more than one forum?
I am a Senior Moderator at one and a solid member of 3 more including this one.
4) What is it about the forums that keeps you here?
Common interests with others. Maturity level. It's amazing how little drama you find at the anime forums as opposed to others like music/social/sub-culture focused forums. It's just nice and laid back yet interesting.
