So is this his Bankai. or just a shikai power?

If its is indeed just a shikai, his Bankai must be off the charts.

I'm very sure it's his shikai, seeing as we haven't seen his shikai's powers yet and when someone new releases a bankai we usually hear them say bankai and someone makes a comment about the bankai's powers. And his swords looked like shikai form.

Also, I think that his bankai has a dark sorta unethical sort of power and that's why Ukitake told him not to use it in a place out in the open where everyone else can see? Or maybe it's so destructive that using around so many others would be hazardous? So many possibilities.
